Edmonton Angels SSC Shine at Nationals with a 7th Place Finish

The Edmonton Angels SSC women’s soccer team made an unforgettable mark at this year’s national championships, proudly representing our club and community on the national stage. With determination, teamwork, and heart, the Angels battled through four intense matches, finishing 7th in Canada—a result that reflects both their grit and growth.
Game 1: Learning Curve Against CS Trident – Ouest de Québec
The tournament kicked off with a tough match against CS Trident, ending in a 0–6 loss. Despite the scoreline, the team held their heads high and used the experience to fuel their drive for the rest of the competition.
Game 2: Facing Caledon United FC
In their second outing, the Angels showed resilience and improved play, though they fell 0–4 to a strong Caledon United FC side. The team’s spirit never wavered, and their focus sharpened heading into the next match.
Game 3: A Fierce Fight with St. John’s SC
This match was a turning point. The Angels found their rhythm and netted two fantastic goals—one from Diane Strang and another from Jenaya Brown. Though the game ended in a narrow 2–3 loss, it was a showcase of the team’s growing confidence and attacking flair.
Game 4: Shootout Glory and a Heroic Finish
The final match was a thriller that went to a shootout. Goalkeeper Maddy Kempster delivered clutch saves that sealed the win and secured the team’s 7th place finish. Her performance was nothing short of heroic and capped off the tournament on a high note.
